What a great feeling it must be after making the initial commitment to compete then going down the road, or track in this case to align all your energy and actions to this commitment and to come away with the ultimate result.
National Champion!
We want to congratulate Jeff DeGuide for his successful journey on achieving this goal this past week at the
2024 USA CYCLING
MASTERS TRACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – Rock Hill Velodrome, South Carolina
Jeff competed in several events – both individual and team. Here are his results:
M 35-39 Time Trial (1km) 2nd
M 35-44 Points Race. 4th
M 35-39 Individual Pursuit. 2nd
M 35-44 Scratch Race. 1st – National Champion!
M 35+ Team Pursuit. 3rd
M 35+ Team Sprint. 2nd
A Scratch Race is mass start with the winner being the first across the line usually a 15km distance. Scratch is in reference to riders pulled if lapped on the track. Sprinters usually tuck in waiting for final lap and endurance riders disrupt by going up ahead and creating gaps.
Jeff said he was not favored to win this event and is now the National Champion!!
Congratulations!!
